World’s Largest Minority

Most of the people suffer some form of disability during their lifetime but here we are talking about those people who are suffering permanent disability and are physically challenged. According to an estimate by United Nations, globally there are around one billion people living with disabilities. India is home to more than 30 million such people.

Though now a days, there are many physically challenged people who are performing very well in their fields and also motivating others but when a physically challenged person has also to face financial problems then it becomes even tougher for him to survive. Young females with disabilities are also vulnerable to abuse. There are instances of them being beaten at home, raped and forcibly sterilized.

Among various types, disability of sight is most common, around 48%, followed by disability in movement at 28%. Mental, speech and hearing disabilities are also common. Developed countries have modern and state of the art infrastructure specially designed for physically challenged people but in India still lacks behind.

ACT… bring the change

Under the guidance of Sadgurudev Satyashri members of ACT work to take care of such people in slums providing them rehabilitation, artificial organs or devices to counter disability, education, counseling and information about their rights. Giving them better life is easier than one thinks. Team members and volunteers are also actively involved in motivating these people to perform in their area of excellence.

Come… Join hands

A small group of thoughtful committed people can bring a great change. Only the will to give can bring the required change. ACT is trying to make this world a better place for them. Just a small gift of a hearing aid, a wheelchair or a Braille kit makes a huge difference.
